The Haute Ticket

Musings of the fashion and beauty kind, with a little travel thrown in.

Velvet Crush

Give me all the velvet, right now. It’s because I’m a nineties child. That’s why I’m so obsessed.

How To Wear The Velvet Blazer

Thank goodness it’s now completely acceptable to wear it head to toe without looking like Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen (remember him?). We like to think, should we fully embrace velvet, that we’re more onto Gwyneth Paltrow circa 1996 in that lush red Tom Ford trouser suit.

Anyway, a velvet blazer is the ultimate finishing touch to any outfit. It just instantly adds a touch of luxe. Saphire blue, deep ruby red or emerald green are great alternatives to black. I know, I know, when are we not Johnny Cash, but as chic as black velvet is, the fabric just lends itself more to those jewel tones, it’s so wonderfully opulent and little bit Rolling Stones. Mixed with a silk camisole and denim, it looks effortlessly stylish.

For the brave velvet connoisseur, there is the suit. Borrow from the boys and wear with a shirt and flats, or wear with a cropped camisole and killer heels for cocktails.
