The Not So Golden Era
Ah, jeez. Here we go again being remarkably hard to please. Sigh. While many an A-lister, and Heidi Klum, strut their stuff at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, only a few good women stood out against a fairly mediocre red carpet. Not for lack of trying mind you. It’s just all a little… “Meh”. Maybe it’s because it’s January. Let’s face it; nothing looks good in January except Leonardo DiCaprio’s face. Can’t. Stop. Laughing. Honestly, this made my Monday. I’m still laughing.
It’s no secret that Margaret and I have remarkably high standards when it comes to fashion (and pretty much everything else too! We’re a treat!), but even the kindest of fashion interns, Ms Maeve, was under-whelmed. And she’s fairly positive. So who stood out, for the right reasons?
Kate Hudson gets a mention because good grief, what a figure, nicely showcased in this Michael Kors number. He had a good run at the carpet this year.
Side note, Kate presented at the awards alongside Kurt. Makes our hearts melt.
Olivia Wilde somehow managed to top last year’s stunning sequin number in a plunging, seventies-inspired scarlet Michael Kors Collection gown, teamed with a jewelled choker, cocktail ring and gold clutch, all Bulgari.
Alas, Olivia was pipped at the post by the lovely Lily James who donned a white tulle gown by Marchesa. Lily completed her look with Charlotte Olympia heels, minimalist jewellery and our favourite beauty look of the night. Cinderella shall go to the ball after all.
Speaking of beauty, we couldn’t help but give a special shout out to Emmy Rossum whose winged eyeliner and chic red lips were on point.
À bientôt, folks! See you at the Academy Awards.
Over and out.
