The little black dress expresses a moment of freedom and individuality every time. ~ Andre Leon Talley It was a red carpet blackout at this year’s Golden Globes. Usually, the Golden Globe Awards; the first event to kick off awards season, is a relaxed, very chilled affair with lots of champagne (or if you’re Tom Hanks, lots of martinis) and is as close to a non-ceremonious ceremony as it gets
Three winters ago, I succumbed to the puffer jacket. I had dug my heels in long enough, but you know when you’re ankle deep in snow, you really have no other alternative. Except for maybe hypothermia. The puffer screamed “giving up” to me. It was ‘mumsie’, a bit of a fashion no-no really. Oh, how wrong I was. It’s like being wrapped in a great big duvet. Statement coats are
We’re finally reading ‘Spark Joy’ by Marie Kondo (the only thing we could get on board with during that awful Gilmore Girls revival). Albeit, we’re fashionably late to the party. But you see, we’ve read Parisian Chic, we’ve read The Curated Closet. French Lessons from Madame Chic? Yeah, we’ve had them. In fact, we’re so busy reading all about perfecting the ultimate capsule wardrobe, that we don’t ever actually get round
All hail the return of the bootcut jean. They’ve made a comeback even Mariah Carey would be proud of. And they’re way more flattering than the skinny jean. Trust us. Totally retro and a sure fire way of slimming those thighs without having to ditch the donut. Hallelujah! This time the look is stronger than ever.💪A little bit hippy, a little bit boho, with a touch of Western influence (think
Give me all the velvet, right now. It’s because I’m a nineties child. That’s why I’m so obsessed. Thank goodness it’s now completely acceptable to wear it head to toe without looking like Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen (remember him?). We like to think, should we fully embrace velvet, that we’re more onto Gwyneth Paltrow circa 1996 in that lush red Tom Ford trouser suit. Anyway, a velvet blazer is the ultimate finishing touch to
We don’t know what notion we’ve taken. It’s not like it’s Valentine’s Day or anything, but we suddenly felt a little nostalgic for that time that Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift strolled through Central Park sipping lattes and Taylor wore a duffle coat and Jake looked so happy. Oh Taylor, look what you made us do? This led us down the rabbit hole. Johnny and Kate? Or Johnny and Winona?
This year’s Emmy Awards (the Oscars equivalent of television, FYI) saw women front and center (and rightly so) with The Handmaid’s Tale and Big Little Lies the main winners. But enough of the actual point of the show, let’s get down to the best red carpet style and our favorite beauty looks from the night. Elisabeth Moss at the 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards wearing Prabal Gurung. Reese Witherspoon suited
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, not Christmas. New York Fashion Week, silly! Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… this is known as Fashion Week. Carrie Bradshaw But before we even begin to discuss our most favourite looks from the runway (and the front row) what would NYFW be without Ralph Lauren? As is tradition, Margaret
We have a confession to make. As much as we talk about festival fashion and occasionally look a little like we’re going to one (albeit without the wellies, but some of us do live in band tees) we don’t actually do festivals. And certainly not Glastonbury which would appear to equal a mud bath. Maybe it’s the camping aspect? Is there a blow dry bar? A guarantee for good weather?
We’re off to Cannes this week. Well, not technically, but what’s a technicality? A little thing like a thousand miles won’t stop us from reporting on who wore what. Vanessa Carlton taught us well. Bella Hadid knows how to work the red carpet. Case in point, last year’s Cannes Film Festival. This year is no exception. Here she is wearing a custom blush Alexandre Vauthier gown with a dramatic sweetheart neckline
