One Last Fling…
What with this Indian summer we appear to be having of late, I find myself a little thrown by what to wear. It’s late September and instead of reaching for my Ralph Lauren-inspired equestrian ensemble; I’m having one last fling with the nineties.
Maybe it’s sheer nostalgia, September does that to us all what with school starting and what not, or maybe it’s just that I’ve watched Iggy’s ‘Fancy’ a little too much but I’m on board with channeling my inner Cher Horowitz.
The thing is the nineties have some of the best hair and make-up styles ever. If you don’t believe me, maybe you should cast your mind back to Cindy Crawford and THAT Pepsi advert. And it’s all so achievable, all it takes is big hair with a serious side parting, bold brows, smoky eyes and matte lipstick. Preferably brown. Think Cara Delevinge in those Burberry campaigns. But feel free to Winona it up and wear some seriously dark lippy.
Liv in darker than dark lipstick.

THE 90’s beauty inspiration ~ Cindy Crawford
Black lips, black sweater and denim.
The hair styles can vary from the pixie crop (Winona once again) to the not-so-recommended nowadays tiny little buns all over your head (à la Gwen Stefani) to the half up/half down which is so favoured these days by the singing ponytail that is Ariana Grande.
90’s Winona Ryder, the best Winona.
I personally prefer the Angela Chase days where plaid, over-sized sweaters, button down dresses and big black boots were worn all day, every day.
Nineties fashion inspired looks.
My So-Called Life. Claire Danes before Brody.
Drew Barrymore
Sarah Michelle Gellar
This is EVERYTHING! The Rachel Cut, sweaters, leggings and layers.
It’s grunge but not Courtney Love grunge. Although that’s okay too! Because you’re channeling the nineties when everything was okay and when Supermodels ruled the earth.
The Clique.
Over and out.
