Are You Faux Real?
As an animal lover, sometimes it’s tricky navigating my way through the fashion world. Leather boots, leather jackets and angora (gasp!) are everyday occurrences in the big bad world of fashion and sometimes it’s hard to know what to do to do right.
So what about the fur situation? Well, I’m out. But I’ll be enjoying my turkey at Christmas so what’s the difference really? Instead of getting on a high horse, I’m getting down with reality and finding alternatives to a somewhat complicated situation. My solution? Fake it.
Benetton have a number of faux fur pieces this season that I have taken quite a shine to. My favourite piece is this wrap. I feel just like Ava Gardner. For the holiday season, wear it with a chic LBD, vintage jewellery and finish with a slick of red lippy and you won’t need mistletoe.
Fashion points are made easy with the addition of a faux fur coat. Wear with care though; it’s glamour with a hint of nonchalance. We are neither exiled in Siberia or Bette Lynch. I’m not sure which the lesser evil is.
Add a hat and shades for extra intrigue.
Dress it up, dress it down, that’s the beauty of a faux fur coat.
For a faux fur jacket, surprisingly I like this pale pink number from what is fast becoming the only brand I talk about, Benetton. Blame it on the day job. Picture this pale pink number less Barbie, more ballet, if you will.
For more beauty without cruelty, you will be pleased to note that Benetton have stepped up to the mark and discontinued the use of angora in all their products from here on in. Thumper will be pleased.
Over and out.
