Charlotte Tilbury, The Lowdown
When it comes to makeup tutorials and reviews, The Haute Ticket will leave that to the YouTube professionals. Or the amazing Instagram accounts where you can follow MUA artistry for yourselves. But, there is one exception to this “no makeup review” rule: Charlotte Tilbury.
We were wildly excited when Charlotte Tilbury opened its first counter in Northern Ireland. House of Fraser never looked so good as it did that day with those brand spanking new products, gold sparkly palm trees and some sort of photo booth which I never really did get a good look at.
We said a sorrowful yet necessary goodbye to a good chunk of our money that day.
The eyeshadow palette has been a source of debate (yes, we debate things like this. We watch the news too but we don’t want to be Debbie Downers all the time) and while some Harrison HQ ladies swear Urban Decay is the eyeshadow palette to end all other palettes, and there are simply no other contenders, we have Nars, Two Faced and Anastacia Beverly Hills in the running too. Now we can add Charlotte Tilbury. Tried and tested and true, the eyeshadow stays put. No crease, no clumps, just sheer, delightful shimmer perfection. Praise be.

Our favourite? Based purely on the fact that our preferred “look” is The Vintage Vamp, (what that says about us who knows) we cannot recommend highly enough the Luxury Palette in, shocker, The Vintage Vamp. It’s incredibly versatile and makes any eye colour pop. Soften it down with the pretty plum shade for a slightly romantic, teeny bit grungy look or really vamp it up with the deep, dark burgundy. Add some sparkle with a touch of gold. This is desk-to-dinner-to-dance ready. Also, handy little note, use the colours in a clockwise direction to go from, you guessed it, desk-to-dinner-to-dancing. So easy.
If The Vintage Vamp isn’t your favourite, there are nine other looks to choose from. And, of course, you can think outside the box and go with your own look and pretty much go crazy at the counter. We did. In fact, our top lipstick is in fact ‘Penelope Pink’ named after one of our favourite muses, Penelope Cruz. It’s the perfect nude lippy.
If lipstick isn’t your bag, then our top choice for something a little more glossy is ‘Unleash Me’. It’s actually part of the Vintage Vamp look so obviously is incredibly matchy-matchy with the Vintage Vamp eyeshadow palette. Don’t be alarmed by the deep shade of purple, this is actually pretty fabulous and stays put, with no stick.
Over and out.
