Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?
“Im-pecc-able – glitter, silver, something very shiny.” – Karl Lagerfeld
A magpie’s dream, the Chanel Couture Show, a collection inspired by Alberto Giacometti’s 1920’s “femme cullière”, took place at the Grand Palais against a backdrop of fragmented mirrors. As the models shimmered across the mirrored runway in elegantly tailored Jackie Kennedy-esque one colour suits (complete with matching hats), the colour palette was reminiscent of Ladurée macarons.
Each model wore a slim, single pearl anklet.
“I wanted something impeccable, clean. I wanted the girls to look like walking fashion drawings… And I must say, I love feathers!” – Karl Lagerfeld
As the show progressed into evening, so too did the collection. Moving seamlessly from tailored, belted suits to slim evening gowns in silvery greys, trimmed with crystals, sequins and feathers.
