The Best of the Met Gala

While the rest of us shall be enjoying a long and lazy Bank Holiday weekend, well, most of us anyway, fashion and Anna Wintour stops for no-one. The Oscars of fashion, otherwise known as the Met Gala, will soon be upon us and this year’s theme, for both the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual exhibition and Met Ball, is Rei Kawakubo, the brains behind Comme des Garçons.

Let’s take a jaunt down memory red carpet lane with some of the very best looks from the Met steps. Although, let’s face it, nobody looks better on those steps than Blair Waldorf.

Sarah Jessica Parker has divided many opinions over her Met Gala choices, she’s brave, that’s for sure. While there have been some positively stand out dresses, we just adore this Halston Heritage number she wore in 2010. The theme? American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity.

That same year, forever favourite Marion Cotillard wore this to-die-for Dior dress. We still dream about it.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely wore Atelier Versace in 2015 and the world hasn’t really quite recovered.

Scarlett Johansson wowed in 2012 wearing Dolce & Gabbana.

Emma Stone was pretty in pink at the 2014 Met Ball, wearing Thakoon.

Beyonce wore custom-made Givenchy to the 2015 Met Ball and pretty much broke the internet.

The best till last, hands down in 2014, Blake Lively stole the show in Gucci, perfectly accessorized with Ryan Reynolds.
