Best Dressed at the 2017 Met Gala
The Metropolitan Museum of Art kicked off this year’s exhibition: “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” with the eagerly anticipated Met Gala and boy oh boy, where do we start?
As former art students meet current fashion design student meets a once-upon-a-time goth, we are only too appreciative of fashion = art. And the point of sticking and committing to a theme. This year, maybe by trying too hard to overwhelm, we feel, well, a little underwhelmed. We’re pretty sure Anna Wintour must be quaking in her boots at that statement! Nevertheless, we can’t help but think of that old fairytale ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’… Just sayin’.
While Katy Perry and Rihanna may have stolen the show, a few others stood out on the red, sorry, blue and white carpet and we’ve rounded up our favorites from last night’s star-studded affair, including some our favourite beauty looks. All hail Lancôme’s ‘Rose Tempete’ palette.
Selena Gomez in Coach.
Gisele Bündchen in Stella McCartney.
Gigi Hadid in Tommy Hilfiger.
Taylor Hill in Carolina Herrera.
Alexa Chung in DVF, Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein and Diane Kruger in Prada.
Laura Osnes in Christian Siriano.
Elle Fanning in Miu Miu, Emmy Rossum in Carolina Herrera and Kate Hudson in Stella McCartney.
Emily Ratajkowski’s teal winged liner flourish was one of our favorite beauty looks of the night.
Selena Gomez was all about the sleek, brunette bob and bold eyeshadow à la Marc Jacobs.
Both Kendall and Emmy Rossum opted for a pop of colour. Kendall wore her own custom shade created for Estée Lauder, naturally.
Hands down, without a doubt, our very favorite beauty look of the night was Taylor Hill’s Lancôme look.
Until next year.
Over and out.
