The Haute Ticket

Musings of the fashion and beauty kind, with a little travel thrown in.

The Golden Girls

Is it just us or are we expecting too much? I mean, if we looked like any of those ladies on the red carpet we would be happy but as far as the fashion stakes go… this year’s Globes were a little ‘meh’. And we’re not talking about J Lo’s! Ahem, Mr. Renner! Sure, the Golden Globe Awards are about the acting chops and yeah okay, they’re saving themselves for the little gold naked man but you know there are two things in life we should all make good use of: a mirror and a tailor.

So, after not so lengthy discussions because as far as red carpet style goes, there was little to talk about, Margaret and I have selected a few good ladies who stood out in what was otherwise an overwhelmingly dull fashion affair.

KATE BECKY

Kate Beckinsale in Elie Saab

and some serious Lorraine Schwartz jewellery!

Amy Adams in Versace

Helen Mirren in an embellished Dolce & Gabbana gown

Sienna Miller in Miu Miu

J to the Hello in Zuhair Murad

Emma Stone in Lanvin

Just look at that hair accessory!

Diane Kruger in Emilia Wickstead with Pacey – sorry – Joshua Jackson

Can we just point out that Diane opted for a shorter Giamba number for InStyle magazine’s Golden Globes after party fête AND SHE WORE TIGHTS! Practically unheard of in Hollywood and we love her even more for it.

It wouldn’t be a Best Dressed list without this lady and one half of the power couple of the night. Watch out Brad and Angie! Someone’s going to take your do-gooding crown…

George and Amal Clooney

While her ensemble may have been a little too Pride and Prejudice for us, hands down Keira Knightley had the best hair and beauty look of the night.

Fingers crossed the next red carpet that’s rolled out (Screen Actors Guild Awards?) will be less ‘nay’ and more yay!

Over and out.
